On Tuesday 5th September we welcomed guests from the local community to an opening ceremony where The LordLieutenant of Derbyshire, Mrs Elizabeth Fothergill CBE cut the ribbon to declare the building officially open. Guests were given the opportunity to tour the new space and refreshments were enjoyed in the new canteen.

The £3 million project was joint funded by QEGS, ARUFC, RFU and DCC and comprises of nine classrooms, new study spaces, four sports changing rooms, match official rooms, a first aid room, an enclosed viewing area, a new canteen and kitchen, along with a new reception and office space. Local building developments are increasing the catchment population and this expansion ensures that QEGS can accommodate all the children who choose QEGS as their local secondary school.
