At Queen Elizabeths Grammar School as part of our ongoing belief that “it could happen here” we work with our young people to ensure that they develop as balanced and understanding individuals that consider themselves and others as important parts of our community on school and the wider community within Ashbourne and the wider areas of Derbyshire and beyond.
The aim of the national Prevent agenda is to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism: The Department of Education state that ‘Schools can help to protect children from extremist and violent views in the same ways that they help to safeguard children from drugs, gang violence or alcohol. This can and should be done through the education around these elements.
At Queen Elizabeths Grammar School we conduct inputs in Assembly’s, tutor periods and our PSHE programme across all year groups. For further information access our PSHE section on the curriculum hub.
Parents and carers are encouraged to contact us should they have concerns either about the young people in their care or others that they know. Together we can work to support those developing view that could place them or others at risk of harm.
Parents are encouraged to download and read the documents provided here:
