QEGS sixth form students excel again!

More QEGS students achieving one or more A*-B grade than ever before under the new A level system.

Academic Results:

  • This year 55% of A Level students gained at least one A* or A grade compared to 49% in 2018.
  • Average points per entry is 40 (up from 35 in 2018), expressed as a grade means the average grade a student achieved is a B.

Vocational/Technical Results:

  • 100% pass rate in all BTEC courses
  • 78% of all BTEC students achieved at least one Distinction or D* in the new, tougher BTEC Qualifications.
  • Average points score (per candidate) of 33.42 which means, expressed as a grade, the average grade a student achieved is a Distinction. A great achievement.

An incredible year for our students and we are justifiably proud of the results they have achieved. As one of the best performing sixth form centres in Derbyshire since 2016 we, once again, expect to be highly ranked both regionally and nationally in 2019.

Amazing individual results:
The 2019 QEGS A Level results are again outstanding, with many amazing individual results; led by Georgina Chamberlain who achieved 4 A* grades plus one A grade, Samuel Edwards who achieved 3 A* grades plus one A and Paul Haswell achieved 3 A* grades. Students who achieved 2 A*grades included Gemma Allen, Sienna Allen, Stephen Elliott, Imogen Griffiths, Abigail Spencer and Benton Stevens. 70% of all our entries were graded A*-B, which is an exceptional achievement compared to last year’s already very high 59%.

Students also excelled in the Vocational and BTec subjects. In the Extended Diploma courses, Triple Distinction Stars (D*D*D*) were awarded to Ben Bryan for Creative and Digital Media (in addition to his Silver Award from Pearson who recognised his exceptionally high standard of achievement with full marks in all assessments) and Holly Herring in Art who also curated an exhibition in the Town Hall. Double D* awards for Art student Maisie Browne. Kira Coombes was awarded D* in her Performing Arts course (achieving 100% of all marks available, exceptional!). Summer Arthur was the top BTec Business student and Olivia Williams the top BTec Sport student both achieving D*D*D.

Staff and students have been celebrating together and students are looking ahead to the next exciting stage of their education and/or employment. Congratulations to all of our students on their tremendous achievements and to all of the staff employed at QEGS who have helped make this happen.
