Pen Portrait – Miss M Ward

I joined QEGS as a Physics Teacher, moving up to Derbyshire after studying and working in London for 15 years. In those 15 years, I studied Physics at Imperial College, worked as a management consultant and IT contractor and then retrained as a teacher, with an occasional gap for a bit of travelling, including Canada and New Zealand.

I had amazing opportunities during my own time at school to take part in sports, music and STEM clubs.  I feel very fortunate to now work at a school that values all of these and I take part where I can, from playing in music concerts, running school trips to Universities, CERN and Russia, watching school sports and shows, joining in with STEM activities and even meeting Olympic legends that come to speak to our students!

As well as teaching Physics, I am part of the Senior Leadership Team and have whole school responsibility for data, assessment and reporting, including school systems such as GO 4 Schools, as well as line managing the English and Maths departments.
