Parent Governor Vacancy – Job Description
The QEGS Local Governing Body is seeking to appoint 2 Parent Governors to start the role from June 2024.
Parent Governors are elected by parents or carers of registered students attending the academy at the time of the election. They do not have to stand down if their child leaves the academy but may do so if they wish.
Interested parties should complete an application, the selection process will include:
• Complete and submit an application form.
• Informal interview with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors.
• Final selection based on the informal interview and/or election (all parents/carers with children at the academy are eligible to vote).
If insufficient parents/carers stand for election, the QEGS Local Governing Body can appoint Parent Governors.
Do you have?
• The ability to form effective working relationships with fellow Governors and staff?
• The ability to enquire, scrutinise, challenge and actively support the work of the Leadership Team of the academy?
• The desire to work hard as a volunteer for the benefit of the students, families and staff?
• The ability to look at issues objectively?
• The confidence to ask questions and join in debates?
• The willingness to listen and make informed judgments?
• Willing to act honestly, openly and with integrity?

Previous experience as a school Governor is not essential as training will be provided.
