Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Ceremony
It was with great pleasure that we welcomed 21 students and their families to receive their Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh awards on Thursday.
Nick Flux, one of QEGS governors gave a speech and presented each award, while Mrs Watson Jones and Mrs Wright spoke of how proud they were of the students and their hard work, as well as thanking the parents for their support throughout the programme. We all agreed that the expedition was the most fun, challenging, tough and memorable parts of the award – there is always a funny story to tell from each trip! Meanwhile the majority of the time was spent completing the skills, physical and volunteering sections of the awards, with students developing in so many ways which we were keen to celebrate. We are so proud of all of them and how they have grown as people over the preceding year or two. We hope that the resilience they have shown in completing their Internationally recognised awards will help them to achieve their goals in life.
For those students who missed the cut off date for us to get their awards externally verified, the next award ceremony is 20th March and we look forward to seeing them then.
