Originally from the town of Morecambe, I left the seaside behind to follow my dream of becoming a teacher in Manchester. Over the past 16 years, I have had the privilege of shaping the lives of young people in a variety of settings, from the bustling classrooms of inner-city Manchester to my current role within our Trust, where I have spent the last nine years contributing to the growth and success of our schools.
For the past 14 years, I have held leadership positions across education, including Head of PE, multiple Assistant Head roles, and, most recently, Deputy Head at QEGS. Throughout that journey, the most important lesson I have learned about leadership is that culture comes first. Ensuring that everyone feels valued, seen, and heard is not just important, it is my top priority in any school. I genuinely love my job, with all its challenges, joys, and unexpected twists, and I am driven by the belief that when people feel supported and respected, both students and staff can truly thrive.
I have a particular passion for SEND provision. As a fulltime dyslexia myself, I understand firsthand the importance of tailored support, encouragement, and practical strategies. It is a privilege to be able to advocate for students and staff in this area and to help create an environment where everyone can flourish.
Outside of school, I am a keen sports enthusiast. While my rugby-playing days are behind me, I am still an avid fan. My main sporting passion is squash; I represent Derbyshire and compete in Masters events throughout the year. Recently, I’ve also discovered Hyrox, which keeps me on my toes. Most importantly, I love spending time with my wife and daughter, making memories together and enjoying the moments away from the busy school day.
