Service of Remembrance

Today, students and staff from QEGS were joined by our CEO, Mr Mallender, at the Ashbourne Remembrance Service led by Ann Smith on behalf of the Ashbourne RBL.

Alongside the local community, we observed the two-minute silence at 11am and laid wreaths at the memorial gates. Following this, we held our own service at the World War I and II memorials in our school reception, which included a moving poem read by one of our student leaders, further wreath laying, and a blessing and prayer from Rev’d Engh.

QEGS students acted as standard bearers at both services, and ex-QEGS student Arlo retuned to play the last post, all representing our school with dignity and pride. We are incredibly proud of our students for their respectful conduct and for upholding the values of remembrance on this important day.
