QEGS celebrates GCSE results success

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School students are celebrating a strong set of GCSE results.

This summer, 218 students sat their GCSE examinations and the results highlights include:

  • Over 70% of students secured a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, and there has been a significant rise in attainment across the school.
  • The phenomenal progress of pupil premium students, whose outstanding results demonstrate the power of ambition, determination and high expectations.
  • A 50% increase in the number of pupil premium students achieving a grade 5 or higher in English and maths, which is testament to the progress being made across the school.

Scott Garrity, Headteacher, said: “We could not be prouder of every single one of our students. Their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to their studies have been truly inspiring.”

He added: “At Queen Elizabeth’s, we believe that success is not just about academic grades but ensuring every student achieves what they need to take their next step in learning and life.

“This year’s results not only reflect their hard work and commitment but also their resilience and growth as learners as well as the support of their families and the tireless commitment of our staff. To each and every one of them, I offer my congratulations and sincere thanks.”

Isaac Clarke, 16, achieved 11 GCSEs including four grade 9s, five grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade 6, and feels “very happy” with them. Isaac is going on to sixth form to study four A Levels in chemistry, maths, physics and product design and aspires to become an engineer.

Oscar Drake, 16, who achieved 10 GCSEs in a range of 4, 5 and 6 grades, is off to college to study a BTEC vocational diploma in performing arts and aspires to become an actor. Oscar said: “I feel very happy and proud. Thank you to all the teachers for helping me through.”

Emmie Smith, 16, feels “happy” having achieved 11 GCSEs including three grade 9s, four grade 8s, two grade 7s and two grade 6s. Emmie is going on to study A Levels in maths, physics and Spanish and the extended project qualification and aspires to become a pilot.

Within this year’s results are many individual success stories that deserve recognition. Among the standout achievements this year are:
