We ran our second ‘Spies and Detectives’ summer school this year from Monday 22nd August 2022 to Friday 26th August 2022 with nearly 100 of our new year 7 starters in attendance.

What an amazing week it was as you can see from the photos.

Students started the week with being introduced to our novel ‘Vi Spy’ and then spent the week involved in a variety of activities based on our theme. We did some fabulous art work, learnt how to use Bunsen burners in our labs, devised a wonderful dance and drama performance and did some spy themed maths!

Students enjoyed meeting their new classmates and I think a popular highlight was the year group rendition of ‘Sweet Caroline’!

Our final day was our celebration day on Friday! We ended a brilliant week with a year group assembly, team games then down to the sports field to enjoy the DJ in a truck, inflatables and ice cream van!

Our aims at the start of summer school were for students to build a community with their fellow pupils, forge relationships with new teachers and to familiarise themselves with the school environment. Based on our student feedback we achieved this and some…Students said ‘I loved the art’, ‘I met some new friends who I am now excited to see in September’. ‘I enjoyed playing football with my new friends’.
