Aug 2012 - A-Level Update
Following the very good A level results most of the Upper Sixth are now placed at University for next year.
The trend of students studying locally is reflected in five choosing to study at the University of Derby, several on the highly sought after Primary Education Course. For the first time for some years only one student is to study Medicine – Rachel Keeling in Cardiff.
Studying in Yorkshire is clearly popular with seven travelling to Leeds University and six to Sheffield University, the same number as are planning to study at Birmingham University where former QEGS students have recently enjoyed conspicuous success.
All five Oxbridge candidates achieved the grades to take up their places – Mary Harvey who will read Politics, Philosophy and Sociology at Cambridge where Louis Tate will take Engineering. Three have places at Oxford – Alice Miller for Mathematics and Philosophy, Dan Shearer Physics and Molly Rogers Biology.
